GWEFR has been selected by Conwy County Borough Council to produce a high-level computer model that assesses how their asset portfolio could be used for electricity generation by means of renewable technologies. Four technologies are being assessed:

For each asset (such as buildings, parks, open spaces, roads, water courses and industrial plant), an assessment is made of its potential with regard to these 4 technologies. The results are presented on a Geographical Information System. The final report also contains:

The overall aim is to help CCBC make better-informed decisions and optimum use of available budgets, so that carbon emissions can be minimised in line with the UK Government's CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme.

November 2015

Dewi Jones visited the research group on Robotics and Autonomous Systems at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane. It was a treat to greet colleagues, see their innovative research projects and tour the lovely QUT campus, situated at the City Botanic Gardens and overlooking the Brisbane River.
